About

I am Andrew Hogan, a barrister at Hailsham Chambers. I have practised at the Bar since 1996 and have dealt with credit hire litigation since the field emerged as a substantial area of civil litigation in the 1990s.

My credit hire work now concentrates on substantial and difficult disputes, appeals, taxi and commercial vehicle claims, and contractual or regulatory questions concerning credit hire and credit repair.

I also have a specialist practice in legal costs and litigation funding. That is particularly relevant where credit hire litigation generates questions about QOCS, Part 36, non-party costs, funding or the exposure of credit hire organisations.

My credit hire practice

Litigation. I advise and appear in substantial and difficult credit hire claims involving impecuniosity, rates, need, period, mitigation, enforceability, evidence, procedure and dishonesty.

Appeals and difficult cases. I have long experience of appellate work in civil litigation and am particularly interested in credit hire appeals and cases raising difficult points of evidence, procedure, enforceability or principle.

Taxi, fleet and commercial vehicles. I act in claims involving taxis, private hire vehicles, fleets, specialist vehicles, profit-earning chattels, loss of profits and substantial quantum.

Agreements and regulatory advice. I advise on the drafting and review of credit hire and credit repair agreements, enforceability and related claims-management and consumer-credit issues.

Writing

I have written about credit hire law and practice on this site since 2016. The archive contains analysis of impecuniosity, rates, enforceability, taxis, fleet claims, procedure, evidence, dishonesty, appeals and costs.

The Articles page provides a structured route into that material by subject.
